Reading Notes: Tales of a Parrot, part A

In this story, the tales are told by a parrot. I really like this idea. I used something similar in my week 5 story when I retold the story using a babysitter to the child.

Characters:

- The four friends

- The Philosopher

Plot:

There are four, poor friends. They set out to find a philosopher in hopes of finding fortune. The philosopher gives them each a ball to put on top of their heads. He said that the ball will fall on the spot where they will find their destiny. The first friend found copper, the second friend found silver, while the third friend found gold. The third friend told the fourth friend to remain with him as there is nothing better than gold. The fourth friend refused this advice and went on to find iron. He felt deep regret and tried to go back to find the gold and his friend but could not. He tried to find the philosopher but could not. A man cannot defy his destiny or change his destiny.
