Reading Notes: Jewish Fairy Tales part A

I read the Jewish Fairy Tales and Legends by Gertrude Landa.

I enjoyed the "Giant and the Flood" story because it changed aspects of a biblical story I have known my whole life. The story added a giant name Og. He wanted to be saved from the flood so he told Noah that he can bring a unicorn and in return he would want safety and food during the flood. Noah was against this idea. He said that he would agree only if Og agreed to serve him and mankind for eternity. If he broke the agreement he would die.

Eventually Og broke the agree and died.

I also enjoyed the "The Quarrel of the Cat and the Dog" story. It was about how the cat and dog came to dislike each other. At first, they were the greatest of friends. Then, food became scared so the cat suggested they parted ways. The cat said that they must not see each other ever again. So they sowre an oath to the agreement. The cat flourished on its own because it stayed with Adam in return for getting rid of mice. The dog had trouble. He found it difficult to find food. Eventually, he wounded up at Adam's place. Adam wanted the dog to stay because he helped warn Adam of thieves. However, the dog didn't want to stay because the cat was there. The cat was angry with the dog for breaking their agreement. Adam wanted the dog and cat to call a truce and make up. However, they could not put their differences aside.
